Today on the blog I’m thrilled to share some beautiful photographs from a newborn photography session in Lausanne last year. I was so excited when Laurie contacted me to arrange a newborn and family photo shoot for the birth of her first child. I could tell immediately from her emails that we were going to get on really well and I was really looking forward to the session.
We had the most wonderful morning; it was such a joy to meet little Oliver and his parents and to document this early time in their life. One of Laurie's best friends from London was also present and we all admired the most perfect baby boy.
Some of my sessions are filled with so much laughter and this was one of those, we had such fun as we took the pictures, looking back over the images as I write this blog post I find myself smiling at each and every shot.
Photographing newborn babies is always such a pleasure, I feel so privileged to be invited into my clients homes at such an early stage – most newborn photography happens within the first weeks and I’m often one of the very first visitors. It’s always really special.
We were taking pictures in their cosy home in Lausanne they just moved in, using the best light and different backgrounds. My job as a photographer is to utilize each of my client’s homes to provide the very best pictures.
2017 was a very special year for me. I am incredibly thankful to all my clients who believe in me and my photography. I truly enjoyed every session and met so many great people. I hope to see many of my clients this year too and make new friends as well.
Here is a selection from our sessions in 2017, which makes my heart sing.

It was a great pleasure for me to get to know Maggie, Sigfrido and their two precious boys and to take fun and stylish newborn and family photographs at their Geneva home, pictures that I know will be treasured by the family forever.
It was a lovely morning for our photo shoot and everyone was in a great mood. Vincenzo was so excited to introduce me to his baby brother and to show his extended tractors collection. The session unfolded in a really relaxed manner and we created such lovely photographs. I try to avoid posing as much as possible and certainly don’t bring props to my photo shoots, I love to see what the children will do with a little direction but without instructions - I never could have planned the pictures of Vincenzo soothing baby Vittorio in such a beautiful heart warming way or comparing his small feet with his brother's.
Not posed documentary newborn baby and family photographs often result in pictures that are funny and, bringing a sense of humour to my photo shoots and my pictures, is something I love to do. It’s these little moments that are sure to make the children laugh as they get older.
As well as laughing, these honest newborn photographs will also remind them of the love and tenderness.
It wasn’t just about the children though, as always I’m sure to get beautiful family portraits and shots of parents with their children as well as the beautiful newborn portraits. These ‘mother and baby’ and ‘father and baby’ portraits show so much love and I know the family treasure them.
