We all take photos of our families. It is quick and easy!
Some of us have big heavy cameras, some small light phones. Some of us are professional photographers, some of us do not really know, how a photograph is made.
But most of us take an advantage of the technology to preserve memories of beautiful days in our life.
Usually our habits of taking and dealing with photographs develop over several years and we often forget to review how effective those habits are.
And very often they are not!
So instead of creating a nice and emotional documentation of your family life you add on to a digital overwhelm with every new photo.
Your family photos are really something very special and unique and these are questions you should definitely ask yourself from time to time in order there are no regrets later – neither for you, nor for your family.
Maybe these questions will inspire you to take different photos than you usually do, to ask your partner to take some photos with you in them, or to hire a photographer to capture your family love and connection.
(1) How often do I see my favorite photos?
While most of photos now remain forever-digital on our devices, you can choose to have some treasured ones printed so you can see them every single day, for example, as a coffee table book, as wall art.
Seeing them will keep reminding you of those good memories, of why everything that you do is really worth it.
(2) How do I most enjoy looking at pictures?
Looking at digital photos is just a quick scroll, while holding a real photo print gives you a completely different feeling.
As if you are able to really touch those memories! Printed photographs are much more real than anything we seen on the screen.
It is very important to really pause and see the photos of your family. So if you do not have paper versions yet, that might be a good idea to make a sideshow out your favourite photos with your favourite music, so you can spend some minutes really enjoying them.
(3) Do my kids see themselves in our home?
Photos remind every member of the family that they are part of a unit and that they are important enough to showcase.

(4) How do I want to remember this season of life?
The days might seem long while the months and years race by quickly – and while we might feel like we won’t forget a second of it, we do unless we have reminders.
Do you keep a journal, do you snap some pictures? What are the types of moments you want to look back on?
(5) How do I want to be remembered?
When you think of your favourite photos of your mum or dad, do you care one bit about how slim or photogenic they are?
Or do you care more about how the pictures bring back memories of their laugh, their sense of humour, their gentle touch, their smile, their patience?
How much they loved you – while they were exhausted too, for sure!
Would you like to have photos showing who you really are and how much you love those people around you? Not just showing how you look, don't you?
(6) Does my family have access to the pictures or is it just me, who has it?
In case if something happens to you it is crucial that you not only keep backups of your pictures, but that someone else is able to access them.
And if your partner for some reason is not available to access them, how will your kids?
Photo books, albums, and prints are keepsakes that your family can access at any time, even if technology fails.
