Only photogenic people should be in the pictures, right? WRONG! “I am not photogenic”, “I am not comfortable with posing”, “I do not like to be photographed” - I often hear these from mothers. Sometimes during a consultation call with my clients, sometimes from people in the park, when they found out that I am a photographer or sometimes even from my own friends. I always laugh and say, that I actually do not feel comfortable to take pictures of the people who are posing or feel super photogenic. I like to capture my clients with the people they love without all the hassle of traditional portrait sessions: posing, smiling, looking at the camera. For me the most important part about photography is to document you as you are, so that one day you and people you love can look back on different times of your life. Your family already knows how you look like, right? And they think you are THE BEST! They do not expect you to look like some one else, they really want to see you together with them! For your family – you look great no metter what, because they love you! And they all look great for you, right? Sometimes I have clients, who tell me about their studio experience. They tell that pictures look beautiful, but they do not look like themselves and for this reason they do not feel any emotional connection with these photos. For example, I do not feel any emotional connections with my passport pictures either – though I do look photogenic in some of them and even wear some make-up! When you forget about the camera and connect with people you love - you look amazing! It is that simple indeed. I am really curious about your life right now and I want to capture this wonderful times and emotions for you and your kids. I am not here to make you look perfect, I am here to encourage you to be yourself, to let go all the worries and to be in the moment with your family. You will quickly forget that you are being photographed and concentrate on your baby or kids – which really does make for the best pictures to represent who you are. Maryia has this incredible skill of being there and present and friendly and chatty, and still make the session all about the “target group”. I tend to think most people feel at least somewhat uncomfortable with a camera directed at them. For me, personally, it can be extremely bad. However, with her, we were all completely at ease and never felt that someone was trespassing our private space. It was definitely the smoothest and easiest shoot that I’ve been part of. To be honest, I do not think I am “photogenic” either. Sometimes I feel tired, overweight, not so young etc. But I make it my duty to get in the pictures, keep and print them regularly. Because first of all – pictures do get better with the time. Go take a look at your pictures from 2015 – you will probably LOVE all of them! Second, the pictures of me being happy and enjoying my life will be priceless for my family someday. If you have pictures of your parents being young and happy, you know exactly what I am talking about. Your kids also want to have such pictures, you know it. So why bother so much about how you look in them? Let's just relax and create some amazing photographs! Thank you for reading!
